On April 12, 1983, Governor Mark White proclaimed Mauriceville, Texas “The Crawfish Capitol of Texas” in Texas House of Representative's Concurrent Resolution #42.

Mauriceville, a small livable and lovable community, is in the heart of the top crawfish producing area in the United States. Blessed with this natural resource as well as a unique heritage, the World Class Crawfish Cook-Off was started in 2016 to showcase our crawfish industry and talented crawfish cookers from far and wide. Held on the first weekend of May at the Community Center Pavilion and Crawfish Festival Grounds, the Crawfish Cook-off attracts locals and visitors who appreciate good cookin’, friendly competition, and great live music!

Teams compete to see who can cook the best-boiled crawfish, best-boiled sides, and best original dish. Teams also vie for the Crowd Favorite and Best Decorated booth, and we can see by the entries so far, we have some characters!

Should you win Grand Champion, your team's picture will be displayed on this site until next year's competition.  Along with bragging rights, you'll receive an engraved Cook off Paddle, 4 beautifully embroidered aprons and a cash payout.  The best booth and other category winners will receive winner rosettes and / or engraved paddles.
